Reflection
Experience: Compared to my other classes, which usually focus more on
designing and such, this module is more about in-depth research. This is the first
time I've done research of this kind, and I've learned how in-depth and
comprehensive a study can get and how different approaches produce varied
outcomes.
It took us fourteen weeks to complete this task since we had to choose the topics
we would research and then find publications to read in order to draft our own
proposal. Honestly, I didn't find reading the articles to be really enjoyable.
Observation: Since there aren't many articles written on a given topic or theme,
I've discovered that it will take longer to find the right article for their proposal. As
a result, I had to hunt for something like and attempt to draw ideas and points
from the article. Additionally, I've noted that focus groups would be simpler to run
than interviews because participants in focus groups aren't bound by the
formalities and restrictions of interviews, allowing them to act more freely.
Findings: Now I know that there are two types of research methodologies that can
be used: focus groups and interviews. While interview letters must be sent out to
request the consent of a single professional participant, focus groups are, in my
opinion, friendlier and more relaxed. Misunderstandings could arise if the letters
are not well-written.
Apart from that, this module has taught me how to use the citations. As a novice
learner, I found this to be pretty confusing at first, but I'm starting to understand
the general idea now. If we find a good article, we can also explore their reference
list to find more relevant articles for inspiration and information.
