Final Project

Final Project

In this project, we have to express our creative skills and reflect our personalities through digital art self-expression. Using mostly our own images, we tweak them in Photoshop before animating them.

Reference

I found my reference all on pinterest

Sketches

I did my sketches super quick just to remind me about the idea it only took 5 seconds.

fig 2.1 idea sketch 1
fig 2.2 idea sketch 2

Idea 1: I love Batman, and I’m obsessed with the film “The Batman” and “The Dark Knight”. It’s cinematography is insane and love the tone. I wanted to apply these to my work I really hope that it goes as my expectation. Honestly, I haven’t done research on it’s tone or camera or anything related to the cinematography. That is what I wanted to do for my first idea.

Idea 2: I usually don’t have a second idea because I always love my first idea unless it’s urgent or needed to be changed. So basically idea 2 is just a plan B.

Images That I Use

fig 3.3 a "Dainese" safety jacket that I like from google

Process

fig 4.1

Firstly, I trace my photo to remove the background. Then I add text behind my photo and put a black blank background.

fig 4.2

After that I added a balaclava on my neck just to cover my neck. It gave a mean, mysterious look. It would look weird without it

fig 4.3

Secondly, I search for the suit with the perfect angle so it would match the picture.

fig 4.4

This is if I remove the balaclava. It looked very weird and awkward

fig 4.5

I added texture for the text, also add a highlight so it would be brighter in the middle. It also gives a give a nice contrast to it.
fig 4.6
In order to make it look more natural and aggressive. I did an adjustment on it's hue and saturation, also the brightness and contrast.

fig 4.7

Lastly, I added smoke in the background. Also, add the red highlight to make it feels like it have a redlight shining from the side, just like my reference. And I made a shadow around the text.

ANIMATION

Progress

fig 6.1

Firstly, I picked the right music and timing of the music. I used the music from the film "Black Panther" it is produced by Ludwig Goransson the master himself. The music title is "BURN IT ALL" the music used when Killmonger burn all the heart shaped herbs in the film. That is why I added fire effect and more smoke effect to the animation. Also, I added highlight because realistically fire would make fire ray to an object or subject.

FEEDBACK
Week 14: Mr. Martin suggested to add more contrast so the subject could appear better.

Reflections

Experience:
I don't have experience on Adobe After Effect but I managed to finish this project. The photoshoot is a bit familiar to me because I have been to a photo studio before. It is not tough for me to learn about the software; I only need to use logic and search on YouTube or Google a few times. However, there were instances when the work grew very puzzling.

Observations:
As the tasks became increasingly tough and complex, a few technical difficulties arose. Some issues were straightforward to handle, while others required several hours of work, which can be quite unpleasant and stressful. My work, on the other hand, was able to improve bit by bit as I applied what I'd learned in the previous task to the current one. As I spent a substantial amount of time shooting images for my tasks, I realized that digital photography required a significant amount of effort and planning.

Findings
This Module was enjoyable for me. I am grateful to my classmates and instructor for supporting me with some of the obstacles that prevented me from completing a specific assignment. Being able to communicate with my classmates was beneficial throughout the course, as we learnt and assisted one another till the end. I'm delighted I improved both my competence and my communication ability.
